Patricia Vickers, PhD

is a First Nations psychotherapist, consultant and the former Clinical Director of Mental Health and Wellness for the province of British Columbia with the First Nations Health Authority.

Dr. Vickers has developed, managed and facilitated trauma trainings to over 200 First Nations service providers in British Columbia and has been contracted with First Nations communities on the Northwest coast for over twenty-five years, gaining knowledge of interconnecting ancestral ways with psychotherapy.

Her research (formal and informal) has focused on the effectiveness of neurofeedback for the treatment of intergenerational trauma in two First Nations communities. Dr. Vickers continues to speak internationally about the intersection of traditional ways of healing and neuro-psychotherapy.

Lisa Ndejuru, PhD

is a Psychotherapist experienced in psycho-somatic approaches and specializes in the dynamics of interracial relationships in therapy. Lisa brings extensive experience in facilitating collective circles of care for the black community and integrating the notion of liberation into individual therapeutic practice. Born in Rwanda, she has served the Rwandan diaspora in North America for more than 20 years as an organizer, researcher and activist. Her extensive experimentation with storytelling, play and improvised theatre aims for individual and collective meaning-making and empowerment in the aftermath of large-scale political violence.

In 2023, she received the AMI Québec (Action on Mental Illness) Ella Amir Award for Innovations in Mental Health and was recognized by CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) as a Black Changemaker.

 is Professor of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. She is one of the foremost experts on traumatic stress and the use of individual and conjoint therapies for PTSD. Dr. Monson has received numerous awards for her clinical, teaching, and research contributions, including Fellow status in the Canadian and American Psychological Associations and Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and induction into the Royal Society of Canada. Dr. Monson has published over 170 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored 8 books, including the treatment manuals Cognitive Processing Therapy: A Comprehensive Manual and Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD. Dr. Monson is well-known for her clinical training and therapy dissemination efforts.

 is on faculty in the department of psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University, where they are the director of the sleep and depression laboratory. They are a leading expert in psychological treatments for insomnia, particularly in the context of co-occurring mental health issues. Their work has been featured in The New York Times and they have over 100 publications on insomnia.

Dr. Carney frequently trains students and mental health providers in CBT for Insomnia at invited workshops throughout North America and at international conferences. Dr. Carney is a passionate advocate for improving the availability of treatment for those with insomnia and other health problems.

received her training in Marriage and Family Therapy from McGill University and since 2007, has focused her work on addressing the specific challenges faced by couples who have a history of trauma or victimization. Sèdami currently sits as a member of the Developmental Couple Therapy for Complex Trauma Clinic at McGill University and has held numerous trainings and workshops on the subject.  

Sèdami has a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, in particular on the unique experiences of bi-racial couples.

Robert Muller, PhD

trained at Harvard, was on faculty at the University of Massachusetts, and is currently at York University in Toronto. Dr. Muller is a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation (ISSTD) for his work on trauma treatment. His most recent book, Trauma & the Struggle to Open Up was awarded the 2019 ISSTD award for the year’s best written work on trauma. And his award-winning bestseller, Trauma & the Avoidant Client has been translated widely. As lead investigator on several multi-site programs to treat interpersonal trauma, Dr. Muller has lectured internationally (USA, UK, Australia, China, Europe), and has been keynote speaker at mental health conferences globally. He founded an online magazine, The Trauma & Mental Health Report that is now visited by over 100,000 readers a year. With over 30 years in the field, he practices in Toronto.

is a clinical psychologist and the founder and clinic director of the Ontario DBT Centre. Dr. Lovasz has over fifteen years of experience as a DBT clinician, researcher and supervisor and has received training from various DBT experts including Dr. Marsha Linehan, creator of DBT. Over the course of her career, Dr. Lovasz has established several successful DBT programs, specifically relating to the treatment of complex trauma. Her research on DBT and other clinical topics has been presented at international conferences and published in scientific journals.
